My name is Carla. I am currently living in Michigan. A little about myself, I am college student and about a year ago I was involved with a charitable organization that really became part of the inspiration for this project. Along with a very good friend of mine, we created The Signature Shirt Project. Both of us living in different states, our ideas came together simply by fate. We wanted to raise awareness and teach others the value of giving.
Our ultimate goal is to bring The Signature Shirt Project all over the world and meet people from different walks of life.
The shirt itself is really nothing more than what it is. Just a regular T-shirt. For now, the signatures will come from people all over the different cities in Michigan. Once put together the shirt will now have random writings, still, nothing special. But herein lies the beauty of this project. Each person who signs the shirt, leaves a piece of who they are. By writing the things they believe in and thoughts about people they love, the shirt then becomes their stories. These people will no longer be strangers and with one shirt they are all connected by the threads of life.
We will document the process with photos and video and use viral marketing (YouTube, MySpace, etc) to spread the word about our campaign.
We are starting in my home state and with enough signatures the shirt will be auctioned on EBay. ALL the proceeds will go to a charity of choice, which is the Children's Hospital in Detroit and with your help we can make this possible.
The project is underway.
